This is a black formal kimono (kuro-tomesode) made by Yamato Chosai, featuring a crane, flowers, and scenery with embroidered gold accents, glitter, and a signature. It is made of crepe silk (chirimmen) and is a double-layered (awase) garment.

Kuro-tomesode are worn as the most formal attire by relatives at weddings and receptions. It is a kimono worn by married women and is the highest class of formal wear.
