Paper-cuts are commonly called window flowers. It is a hollowed-out art, appearing in hollow and clear visualization, offering people artistic aesthetics. On May 20, 2006, the heritage of paper-cut art was officially listed in the first batch of the list of intangible cultural heritage. On September 30, 2009, Chinese paper cutting was approved in the fourth batch of the <> by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Center. As early as the Han and Tang dynasties, folk women began to paste paper of various patterns, such as flowers, animals, and historical figures, on windows and doors as decorations.
Folk paper-cuts originate from daily life and activities. Through the form of paper-cuts, paper-cut artists express their attitude and understanding towards life and nature, which is their emotional exposure.
