An oval ceramic serving platter featuring a colorful transferware depiction of a tom turkey set against a brown rural landscape background. The border features a brown foliage pattern detailed with underglaze hand-painted green pears and apples. The underside of the platter is entirely white and features no maker's marks, stamps, or signatures. This item is sized for serving holiday meals or for use as autumn home decor. Mid-20th Century (circa 1950s1960s). Unmarked pieces with this specific style of hand-painted colorful transferware were frequently produced in Japan for export to the US market.
