Vintage silver plate butter knife featuring an ornate repoussé floral and scroll pattern on the handle and the base of the blade. The handle is finished with a beaded edge and a decorative shell-like terminal. The blade has a classic curved shape, suitable for serving butter or soft cheeses. The back of the handle is stamped with a W in a diamond and SILVER PLATE. This piece shows significant signs of age and use, including heavy tarnishing, surface scratches, and green oxidation (verdigris) in the recessed areas of the pattern and near the hallmark. The silver plating is worn in several areas, revealing the base metal underneath.
