This is a 60-strand black lacquer finished bamboo do in excellent condition.
This is part of a set I received from my high school teacher, who recently passed the 8th dan exam, as a retirement gift. He said, Most people don't continue kendo, so I'll give this to you lol.
It was originally part of a set with a list price of around 1 million yen, a very high-end do. However, while it was durable and useful, it became too heavy to use, so it was stored away.
Therefore, it has not been used much and is in very good condition.
Although it is an old base, it does not have the common wobbling issues and is in unbelievably good condition considering its age.
The chest is also made with hand-stitched Kurozan, a traditional and high-quality chest, beautifully crafted by a skilled artisan, as you can see. It is not too stiff, with a moderate elasticity.
Among bamboo do, this one is quite robust.
It's even more imposing than Asano's 43-strand do!
Recommended for those who act as motodachi (sparring partners) or regularly face 8th dan practitioners.
Fiber or resin do would be too difficult for such situations...

The teacher was tall, around 179 cm and just under 80 kg.
This do is particularly recommended for individuals of similar build.
