Marc Estel "Bouquet of Joy"
★ Price reduced.
This is a giclée print by French artist Marcestel Squarciafichi, who was active both in Japan and internationally.
Featured in the 2017 Art Yearbook.
Born in Paris in 1943, he was a Western-style painter.
In 1970, he first visited Japan, where he was inspired by the bleeding of sumi ink and began researching Oriental textile art. He also befriended Taro Okamoto and others, initiating cultural exchange with Japan. He perfected a unique technique that gave oil paintings the transparency and fluidity of tempera, completing a profound art form that fused Eastern and Western painting styles.
In 2003, he held the World of Marcestel Myths exhibition, and his collected works of the Kojiki series, Japanese Mythology by MARCESTEL, were published worldwide.
He passed away in April 2023, but his unique artistic style will continue to be cherished.
