Antique Victorian Oval Gilt Picture Frame 4x5 Opening Wood & Composition 1800's

Antique Victorian oval gilt picture frame dating to approximately 1850–1870. This frame features a solid wood body with applied composition (compo) floral ornaments and a beautiful aged gilt finish with rich patina. It is a wonderful piece for displaying an antique portrait, tintype, photograph, silhouette, or small painting. The frame has a 4 x 5 oval opening and measures approximately 7¼ x 8½ overall. * Good antique condition. * Attractive aged gilt finish with expected wear from age and use. * The back shows age-related cracks, old repairs, and wood loss consistent with age. This is an authentic antique frame with great decorative appeal and would make an excellent addition to a Victorian, farmhouse, cottage, or traditional home. It is also ideal for artists, collectors, or anyone looking for a period-correct frame for a restoration project.
