Purchased at the Special Exhibition Commemorating the Great East Japan Earthquake Reconstruction: Buddhist Statues of National Treasure Muro-ji Temple in Nara held in 2014. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to see all twelve Guardian Deities up close and was deeply moved by their expressive and dynamic craftsmanship.
These are masterpieces of the Kei school, stemming from the lineage of the great sculptor Unkei of the Kamakura period.
*The contents have been checked and kept in storage. There is a small stain on the lower left of the cover, but the inside is still clean.
