Vintage Cast Iron Lyre and Pineapple Trivet - 3 Legged Sad Iron Stand

This is a vintage cast iron Lyre and Pineapple sad iron trivet. These were originally used to protect surfaces from the heat of heavy sad irons (solid metal irons heated on a stove) before electric irons became the norm. The Lyre and Pineapple motif is highly symbolic. The Lyre represents music and harmony, while the Pineapple at the base is a traditional symbol of hospitality and welcome. Cast iron with a black finish. It features a three-footed design to lift the hot metal off the table. The underside is clearly embossed with LYRE AND PINEAPPLE on the side rail and contains a maker's mark or mold number (looks like an F or similar symbol) near the pineapple base. These were famously produced by manufacturers like Virginia Metalcrafters or as generic regional foundry pieces in the mid-20th century. This piece is in excellent vintage condition. It shows very little rust, and the casting is crisp. It measures 7 long and 4 wide. Please be sure to view all pictures and zoom in for details as this is an important part of the description.
