【Bakumatsu to Meiji Era】 Chassepot Bayonet Imperial Japanese Army Sword (Imitation Blade Vermilion Lacquer) Leather Scabbard Sword Mountings 【Antique Item】

★ Product Information ★

[Description]
The Chassepot rifle was imported from France to Japan during the late Edo period and was used in the Boshin War. However, it was difficult to handle due to humidity and did not become widespread, leading Tsuneyoshi Murata to develop the Murata rifle based on it.
In parallel with improvements in the rifle's performance, it existed as an early Western-style bayonet in the history of Japanese bayonets and is one of the origins for the development of unique Japanese bayonets such as the later Type 30 bayonet.
The blade, featuring a robust red-lacquered groove, is a non-sharpened replica blade, and the tip is not sharpened, making it unusable as a weapon. It is entirely legal and is purely a work of art.
The leather scabbard has peeling of the surface and tears in the stitching due to age.
As this is an old item, please be aware that there may be scratches, dirt, rust, peeling, fading, and dust accumulation in small areas due to age and long-term storage.
