Kujikudashi Tsuba, Brass Ground Momiji-shaped Vertical Carving Tsuba, Unsigned, Scalloped Rim, Intricate Metalwork, Tanto Tsuba, Protruding, Tsuba

US Size:

Brass Tsuba with Quince Blossom Design, Engraved Vertically, Unsigned, Sukizane-mimi, Fine Metalwork

This is likely a tanto tsuba with colored brass. The peeling that reveals the base material has a rustic charm. Recommended for a dignified tanto koshirae.

A hamidashi tsuba (protruding tsuba) is a small tsuba made to protrude slightly outward from the edge of the saya (scabbard) or tsuka (hilt).

It is characteristically seen mainly in tanto koshirae. Despite its small size, it has practical functions and is used as decoration for small swords (chisagata-na), existing since ancient times in the history of Japanese tanto.

As it is an old item, there are signs of age-related dirt and rust. Please check the images.
